A PSA 10 can sell for ten times the raw card, but most copies never come back a 10. Enter your numbers to see what grading is worth on average, and what happens when the card misses.

Results are net of selling fees. They are estimates from the numbers you enter, not a grade or a guarantee.

How the calculator works

You put in the raw card price, the grading fee and shipping. After grading you sell the slab and pay selling fees. That gives three outcomes: a PSA 10, a PSA 9, and anything lower. The expected result is those outcomes weighted by how likely each one is.

The break-even number is the chance of a 10 you need for grading to pay off on average. If a card needs a 40% chance of a 10 and only 15% of graded copies get one, grading loses money more often than it wins, even when the PSA 10 price looks huge.

Where to get the numbers

  • Prices: recent sold listings for the raw card, a PSA 9 and a PSA 10.
  • Chance of a 10: the PSA population report shows how many copies got each grade. Divide the PSA 10 count by the total. Note that people submit their best copies, so the odds for a random raw card are usually lower.
  • Fees: PSA prices depend on the service level and the declared value of the card. Check psacard.com before you submit.
